New Videos: Squarehead (+ Competition)
We had a lovely trip to the Exchange in Temple Bar last Friday with the chaps from Squarehead for a little acoustic session. We’d shot an impromptu session with the wonderful Tim Kasher in the same space a few months ago but walking past the Exchange and seeing the way the space constantly changes and is re-used kept it fresh in our minds as somewhere we’d like to revisit.
We set up in the front window of the Exchange surrounded by Paul Gay‘s giant wacky kaleidoscopes and after playing with them and admiring Lemeh42‘s ‘No Man Is An Island’ (the beautiful artwork you can see decorating the walls in the videos), we finally got down to business. One of the Squarehead lads was a bit hungover (we won’t say which) but once they started playing it was business as usual.
They started off with a new song, ’2025′, which sounds absolutely amazing. Have a look below. We were humming it away to ourselves in the office all afternoon after the session and once you give it a listen it’ll probably be stuck in your head too. Can’t wait to hear more new ones from the guys.
They finished up the session with a cover of The Go-go’s ‘Vacation’, a song that they breezed through in their own unique style after a few false starts and which we think looks and sounds really great. Keep an eye out for some of the Exchange patrons dancing in the background!
Squarehead are playing in Whelan’s tomorrow night with support from Bridges Of Madison County and Hello Moon. We have a pair of passes to give away to a lucky Cock and Bull reader. Simply leave a comment on this post to be in with a chance to win, entries close at 12 o’ clock tomorrow!
